MUSIC SUPERSTAR, DEDICATED MOTHER AND AVID DOG LOVER GLORIA ESTEFAN MAKES HER WRITING DEBUT WITH A TOUCHING BOOK FOR CHILDREN
STARRING HER BULLDOG NOELLE
THE MAGICALLY MYSTERIOUS ADVENTURES OF NOELLE THE BULLDOG CELEBRATES THE IMPORTANCE OF INNER BEAUTY
“With a solid message about inner talent and winsome illustrations by Michael Garland, Estefan's children's book debut is a heartening read.”
Barnes & Noble.com’s The Buzz for Fall: What’s Hot for Kids & Teens
(August 2005) Five-time GRAMMY Award-winning singer/songwriter Gloria Estefan shares the real-life escapades of her beloved English bulldog Noelle with her first book, The Magically Mysterious Adventures of Noelle the Bulldog (HarperCollins, November 2005, .99, ages 4-8). A CD is included in every book, featuring Gloria’s first song for children -- the luminous “Noelle’s Song. (Been Wishin’).” Noelle, a young dog adopted into a good family but having trouble adjusting to a strange new place, is sure to leap into the hearts of those young and old who have felt the worry of an outsider trying to fit in and the joy that comes from discovering your own inner beauty.
Like the beautiful songs and positive spirit that has become synonymous with Mrs. Estefan, this book shares an uplifting and important message with its readers. Noelle is a loveable, yet very unconventional looking dog, who must find her way through life in her new home, feeling different and confronting a bevy of clustered animal cliques whose ultimate reluctance to include Noelle in their world is soon offset by Noelle’s true, albeit hidden, beauty.
An ideal tool to introduce a discussion on self-confidence and making friends, The Magically Mysterious Adventures of Noelle the Bulldog helps children who may feel alienated and ostracized understand that no matter what shape, size, or interests they may have, fitting in is internal and being yourself is the ultimate way to make anyone think you’re special.
Inspired by Estefan’s beloved pet, The Magically Mysterious Adventures of Noelle the Bulldog mirrors the true story behind how Noelle came to be such an important part of Gloria’s life. Already a celebrity in her own right, Noelle has appeared with Gloria on Oprah and has been featured in People Magazine.
As an artist who herself has penned numerous chart topping hits and is a member of the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame, writing a story about her beloved Noelle in a children’s book format was a natural transition. "I don't think too much is known about the affinity that I feel for animals. I have a very real connection with them and although I've had many pets, especially dogs, I have found a new and very unique connection with my two year old English Bulldog, Noelle,” says Gloria Estefan. “She came to be a part of our family quite by accident and has brought us unforgettable experiences that I hope to share with the readers of my book based on her real- life antics. I hope Noelle will bring the readers as much joy and surprise as she has brought into the lives of everyone who has met her."
“We are thrilled to be publishing Gloria’s first book – and to be launching her career as a published author,” adds Rene Alegria, Publisher of Rayo, an imprint of HarperCollins. “We have adored her as a musician and entertainer – and now with Noelle’s story, the world will bear witness to this long adored dedicated wife and mother as she sets off in a new and satisfying direction, building on her legendary career in helping to educate and entertain children throughout the world.”
